Hydrating Serums

All Skin Types and Dry Skin

You’ve probably heard of hyaluronic acid – the hydrating hero ingredient that can hold 1000 times its weight in water. This formula uses a clever crosslinked variety of HA, known as sodium hyaluronate cross polymer, that has 50 times more binding capabilities. Plus, it contains multiple hyaluronic acid ‘boosters’ – specifically types of peptides such as Octapeptide-45, which help enhance your skin’s own production of HA, for long-lasting hydration and skin smoothing benefits.

Apply one to two pumps in the morning and evening as the first product in your regime after cleansing. Avoid getting in your eyes. If it happens, rinse thoroughly with water.

    What causes dry, dehydrated skin?

Lots of things can make your skin dry, dehydrated and a little dull looking. Firstly, your skin may naturally be on the drier side, with a lower concentration of moisture-locking lipids and ceramides in its barrier due to genetics. This is exacerbated as we age – as the production of moisture-locking components decreases in our skin, so you may notice more dehydrated patches over time. Conditions such as eczema and psoriasis can also be a cause of additional dryness, and environmental factors can play a significant role, with cold, dry air, UV rays and low humidity all potentially stripping your skin of moisture. Using harsh cleansers and overly hot showers or baths can have a similar impact too.

Why is hyaluronic acid considered a great hydrating ingredient?

Hyaluronic acid is celebrated as a hydrating skincare ingredient mainly due to its brilliant ability to draw water into your skin, by holding up to 1000 times its weight in water. Hyaluronic acid can be formulated for serums and moisturisers with a lightweight, refreshing feel that gives you both instant and more long-term results in terms of hydration and radiance. It’s also a substance that is naturally found in your skin to help maintain your skin’s moisture barrier (so topping it up is a great idea), with its hydrating effect helping smooth the appearance of dehydration lines as well.
