altrient liposomal vitamin c 1000mg 02

Why we recommend

Vitamin C is key both to general health and to your skin but taking high doses can be a quick route to an upset stomach. Altrient has patented a way to wrap it in liposomes so it isn’t shredded by stomach acids but makes it to the gut where up to 98% is absorbed (compared to 10-20% for an average vitamin C).

I trialled this for the Times with very impressive results – I saw a 22.8% improvement in the collagen levels, 30.2% in hydration and 64.3% in skin elasticity. I now take this every day.

Altrient-C Liposomal Vitamin C

High-strength, liposomal vitamin C supplement

(19 customer reviews)

The right sort of high-strength vitamin C supplements can work wonders for the skin, improving its hydration, its elasticity and its ability to build collagen. This is a ‘liposomal’ supplement, where the vitamin C is encased in small fatty particles called liposomes, which get it safely through the stomach and into the gut, where 98 per cent of each 1,000mg dose is absorbed.

Research by the brand has shown impressive results in improving the skin, and when, two years ago, I trialled this form of vitamin C for a story for the Times newspaper, I too saw brilliant results, which pushed up my collagen levels (up 22.8%) plus my skin’s hydration (up 30.2%) and its elasticity (up 64.3%). The trial results were measured on my face, but of course you can see the effects all over the body. I find it really helps with dry, scaly shins and elbows, too.

  • New research shows Altrient C makes skin up to 61% firmer* (report)
  • Many times more powerful than other non-liposomal oral forms of Vitamin C
  • It is more ‘bioavailable’ than other vitamin C supplements. Because the vitamin C is encapsulated in small fatty particles called liposomes, it passes through the stomach without either upsetting the stomach, or being shredded by the stomach acids. Once in the gut, 98% of it is absorbed
  • High potency Vitamin C also offers benefits where you need it most, to your cells

We have both been taking this for a long time now and recommend it .

    2. C

It’s a great product, I use it everyday, it has helped me so much.

This product comes in sachets. Reviews show that it is genuine Liposomal vitamin C. It is easy to dispense into a glass with a little water and easy to swallow. Expensive but recommended as effective.

This is the best Vit C to take due to the efficient absorption. I snip the sachet and squeeze it into my mouth then drink a glass of water with it. It does not mix with water easily so doing it this way means you get no waste in the glass.Vit C helps boost the immune system and speeds healing.

Been using this for 2 years now!! Best of the best vitamin C out there

Rip open the sachet and squeeze the contents into a small amount of water in a glass. Swill the orange gel around to make sure it is not sticking to the glass, then gulp it all down in one go.

    That’s it.

Ideally, take this on an empty stomach, though if you take it after a meal, it’s not the end of the world, it will all be absorbed, just more slowly.

Just wait 15 minutes before you have a hot drink, because anything too hot (eg tea, coffee, hot soup) may make the vitamin C ineffective.

The packaging on the boxes says that you should only take one sachet per day. It is perfectly safe to take more – there is no known toxic dose of vitamin C, so if you want to take five a day, that it between you and your budget.

For the trial, I took three sachets a day, for three months, as this was the protocol which had been found to give the maximum results for the skin. The trial found that after three months, there was no additional benefit to be gained from taking more than two sachets a day, so since then, I have reduced my intake to one or two sachets a day.

But you don’t have to take that many. One sachet a day can give you the same improvements, though more slowly.

What does liposomal vitamin C mean?

‘Liposomal’ essentially means that something can withstand the gut’s digestive processes and get to where it needs to be in the body. So, in this case, liposomal technology increases the absorption of vitamin C into the body’ by capturing the active ingredients inside protective membranes (think of it like a bubble) called liposomes. These protect the contents and get it safely past the digestive juices to deliver the vitamin C directly to the cells.

Is liposomal vitamin C better than regular vitamin C?

In supplement terms, yes. This is for the reason mentioned above – liposomal technology ensures almost 100% bioavailability from vitamin C by protecting it from oxidation and degradation from gastro-intestinal distress. Only up to 200mg of a standard vitamin C supplement can be absorbed by the body at once, and the rest is wasted through urine. In comparison, each dose of Altrient-C provides 1000mg of completely bioavailable vitamin C.

Is it safe to take liposomal vitamin C?

Yes. It is nigh on impossible to take too much vitamin C because it’s absorbed directly into the body’s cells.

Can I take Altrient-C with food?

It’s recommended to take Altrient-C on an empty stomch because it’ll reach the bloodstream quicker, but it will still be fully absorbed by the body if taken with or after food.

    Can I blend Altrient-C?

It isn’t recommended. This is because the membrane-like liposomes that protect the vitamin C can be damaged by heat processes or agitation.

Does Altrient-C dissolve into a liquid?

Altrient-C doesn’t dissolve when you mix it into a cold beverage because it isn’t soluble, and this is exactly how it’s able to achieve 100% bioavailability – by reaching the body’s cells without being affected by stomach acid and bile salts. Instead of dissolving, it remains in its gel form as it sits in a glass of liquid.

How much Altrient-C should I take per day?

Each sachet contains 1000mg of vitamin C. The recommended dosage is 1 or 2 sachets per day.

Can I take Altrient C if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

It’s always a good idea to consult with your GP or midwife before taking any supplements while pregnant or breastfeeding, but there aren’t any known dangers to mother or baby associated with liposomal vitamin C. In fact, vitamin C remains a vital nutrient during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    What does Altrient-C help with?

Vitamin C is one of the most proven and well-established nutrients in the world, known for its powerful immune-boosting, antioxidant, anti-ageing and anti-viral properties. Humans are one of the few who can’t produce their own vitamin C, so we have to get everything we need from our diet, or failing that, supplementation. Vitamin C supports so many mechanisms in the body that we simply can’t function without it. Altrient-C contributes to:

    • the normal function of the immune system.
    • normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums and teeth.
    • normal functioning of the nervous system.
    • the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
    • the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

It has also been proven to increase skin firmness and elasticity by over 60%, and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on both the face and body, during a clinical trial carried out by Princeton Consumer Research Centre.

    Is Altrient-C gluten free?

Yes. It’s also vegan and free from gelatin, yeast, lactose, alcohol, added sugar, sweetener, flavour enhancers, flavouring, and dyes.

    What makes Altrient-C so different?

In addition to its liposomal technology, Altrient-C stands out from other liposomal vitamin C supplements because the liposomes used are made from essential phospholipids – the primary building blocks of cell membranes – that include a high percentage of a phospholipid called phosphatidylcholine (PC), which works to enhance the process of metabolism within the cells, further supporting the absorption of the vitamin C and overall cellular health.

When is the best time to take Altrient-C?

It doesn’t really matter what time of day you take Altrient-C, but it’s best taken in the morning or early afternoon rather than before bed to avoid a sudden burst of energy that could interfere with sleep.

Does Altrient C contain any genetically modified ingredients?

No. All Altrient products are 100% non-GMO.
