Why we recommend

If your skin is looking dull and tired, Lactic Wash from skincare experts Intradermology can be an easy and effective way to perk it up again. Lactic Wash uses a one-two punch of alpha hydroxy acids — the lactic acid mentioned in the product’s name, plus glycolic acid — and salicylic acid to slough off the dead skin cells and bring brighter, fresher skin cells to the surface.

Intradermology Lactic Wash works to improve your skin in four ways. First, lactic acid breaks down the bonds that keep the dead skin cells stuck to the skin’s surface, revealing newer, fresher skin beneath. Second, lactic acid also has a moisturising effect, attracting water molecules to your skin to keep it hydrated and prevent it drying out. Third, surfactants in Lactic Wash remove oil and dirt from your skin without stripping its moisture barrier. Fourth, the lactic acid encourages your skin to produce new skin cells, which help to strengthen your skin barrier for protection against the environment.

    HOW TO USE IT

Use Intradermology Lactic Wash morning and evening. Wet your face, dispense a pea-sized amount of the product into your hands, and then rub them together to create a lather. Massage the lather onto your skin, avoiding the delicate skin around your eyes. Rinse your face thoroughly, and then pat it dry.

In the evening, you may want to double-cleanse using the same technique twice: the first cleanse removes dirt and makeup from the surface of your skin, whereas the second cleanse deep-cleans the skin itself.

Apply sunscreen each day to protect your skin against damage from ultraviolet (UV) and other rays.

Aqua (Water), Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum), Limonene, Linalool

What are the advantages of lactic acid?

Lactic acid is a relatively mild alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that is great for exfoliating your skin gently without irritating it. Lactic acid promotes skin cell turnover, helping your skin to shed old, dead skin cells that dull its surface and improving your skin’s texture and appearance. Unlike some other AHAs, lactic acid has a humectant effect, drawing moisture into your skin rather than drying it out.

Do I need to double cleanse?

If you wear a lot of makeup, or if you find your face collects a lot of dirt during the day, double-cleansing can be helpful. But if you don’t wear makeup and don’t get too dirty, you probably don’t need to double-cleanse. To double-cleanse with Intradermology Lactic Wash, simply use the cleanser twice: the first cleanse gets rid of surface grime, and the second cleans your skin a bit more deeply.

Why do I need to use sunscreen after exfoliating my skin?

Exfoliating your skin removes the top layer of dead cells that have been protecting your skin. That makes your skin more sensitive and more vulnerable to ultraviolet (UV) rays, so your skin can burn more easily. To offset this increased sensitivity, apply sunscreen to protect the new layer of skin.
